Samsung Galaxy Watch : Wear Os Pros And Cons
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4s software provides the best experience Ive ever had using Wear OS, period. Although smartwatches with the old Wear OS have fooled me before working fine at first until glitches start oozing out the Galaxy Watch 4 doesn’t falter. I will say the software still feels very Tizen-esque, but its a good thing. Finding my rhythm took no time, letting me switch between apps and menus and setting pages seamlessly.
The rotating tiles are obvious remnants of Tizen, plus Samsung Pay and Samsung Health still take priority. Beyond that, Googles new app cloud is loaded with Googles programs. That said, the selection is a bit limited right now. There’s no Google Assistant yet, for example.
You do get , though. Having it on my wrist helps me get around easily, whether I’m walking in the city or driving in the suburbs. Check out more of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Wear OS features I’m enjoying so far.
Complementing Wear OS, One UI Watch makes the Galaxy Watch 4 a more active member of the Samsung device ecosystem. The software skin transition settings and tools from a Galaxy smartphone to a Galaxy smartwatch, and vice versa, automatically. One UI Watch also leverages an expansive watch face library, complete with a proprietary editing suite for developers. Bubbly numbers, animal animations and color-coordinated complications that remind me of Android 12 are some of my frequent face choices.

Amazfit Sleep Tracking Vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 3
I still don’t understand how I can get a sleep score in the 80s, when my total sleep was just over 5 hours one night and then score in the mid-70s when my duration is over 7 hours. I realize it looks at all the information, but it just seems that 5 hours would leave me less time for the stages of sleep as compared to a 7+ hour sleep.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Vs Galaxy Watch 4 Classic: Whats Different
|Galaxy Watch 4|
Our dedicated guide to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 vs. Galaxy Watch 4 Classic covers all the differences between the two smartwatch versions.
Lets get this out of the way the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are identical on the inside. From the new Wear OS software and Samsungs One UI skin to the 3-in-1 health sensor and expansive watch face collection, youll get the same software experience.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic features fancier materials such as stainless steel case, leather straps and the physical rotating bezel. Think of it like the Apple Watchs Edition line. Except the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is far more affordable than the Apple Watch Edition models, which are typically made from high-end materials like ceramic and titanium. Though it costs $100 more than the standard Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, its starting price is still less expensive than the entry-level Apple Watch 6.

How Does The Phone Know Im Asleep
Some phones can detect when you are asleep because there are a built-in sensor, accelerometer or sonar waves emitted from your phone to detect your movement. Some of the most recommended sleep-tracking apps are SleepScore, Sleep Cycle and Sleep Time, all of them are available for Android and iOS devices.
Samsung Galaxy Watch : Design
Both versions of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 feature a redesigned frame that allows for gapless transition from the smartwatch chassis to the straps. The uniform set of crown buttons also sport an oblong shape, rather than one protruding round crown accompanied by a flush side button.
Despite these subtle changes, the Galaxy Watch 4 pays homage to the Galaxy Watch models of the past. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic gets the rotating bezel, which is both a handy navigation tool and excellent fidget spinner. Since the original Samsung Galaxy Watch debuted the bezel, its become as iconic to the product as the S Pen is err, was? to the Galaxy Note smartphone.
So as someone whos used the Galaxy Watch 3 more recently than the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, adjusting to a capacitive version of the bezel on the baseline Galaxy Watch 4 took time. But minus the mechanism, the smartwatch is a lot slimmer, making for a modern gadget that wont be mistaken for a traditional timepiece.
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 vs. Galaxy Watch Active 2: What are the differences?
Id still wear it from the gym to dinner, though, especially in the Silver or Pink Gold options. Thats just my taste. I also appreciate the Green version thats color-matched to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, but it only comes in the 44mm size. I prefer the 40mm model for my wrist size, though my male colleague tried on the 46mm Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and enjoyed the look of the larger display.

How Is The Samsung Galaxy Watch Useful In Tracking Sleep
The Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch can be very useful for people suffering from sleep disorders to track and communicate their problems to their respective doctors.
As for the busy man it can help to decide which times are best for their sleep for example, does the 11 pm to 6 am slot suit better in sleep productivity or the 12 pm to 6 am slot with an hours nap between the day give a more fulfilling sleep schedule.
Either way, it can benefit people who find it hard to find the time, energy, or resources to balance their work-sleep life.
Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Review: Software And Hardware
Software on the Galaxy Watch 4 offers the best of both WearOS and Tizen OS. Its the first smartwatch to come running on Googles Wear OS co-developed by Samsung. It has androids app ecosystem with Samsungs signature look and feels.
Apart from the default watch face, swiping right displays notifications, while the left swipe will take you to information tiles. With a swipe up from the home screen, all installed apps are displayed as circular icons.
There are several watch faces preinstalled and some of them are really fun to play with. You can also customize these watch faces via the Samsung wearable app. With play store onboard, some of Googles most popular apps can be downloaded on watch. Users can also install watch faces from the Playstore.
Both the new Galaxy Watches are driven by a new 5nm Exynos W920 dual-core chipset ticking at 1.18GHz. It gets 1.5 gigs of RAM and 16GB of eMMC ROM for a lag-free experience. The UI is quite snappy and apps loaded quickly which is a good start and we hope the watch doesnt slow down with time.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 Review: Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 blows Wear OS watches away, and proves the company is serious about catching up with Apple. With lengthier battery life, functional FDA-cleared health features, more big-name apps, and Fitbit-level sleep-tracking, the Galaxy Watch lineup could actually make Apple take notice.
For now, Samsung still lags behind, but at least the company is trying. If youre looking for an Android smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is the one worth buying.

How Can I Increase Battery Life To Four Days
The one major software differentiator between the Galaxy Watch and Apple Watch is the ability to have an always-on watch face. However, after nearly a month using the Galaxy Watch, I discovered that this is also the culprit that kills the battery life the fastest and if you enable the watch face to be on all the time then you are likely to get about half of the battery life that Samsung advertises.
If you want a chance at four or more days of battery life, then go to Settings> Watch faces and toggle off the Watch always on option. You can still keep the gesture enabled to turn on the watch face so if you lift your wrist and rotate to look at the screen then you should see the watch face. I prefer having the watch face always on, but until Samsung improves the battery life with this enabled I have it turned off.
If you really want to go crazy and see a week to a month of battery life, battery settings are available for power saving and watch only modes too.

Samsung Galaxy Watch : Sleep And Stress Tracking
Samsung improved sleep tracking metrics for its latest smartwatch. Blood oxygen is measured once a minute overnight on the Galaxy Watch 4, compared to once every 30 minutes on the Galaxy Watch 3. More SpO2 readings could mean more insight on rest quality, especially for those with conditions like sleep apnea. When you sleep next to a compatible smartphone, the sounds of your snores get tracked, too.
I’m a quiet sleeper, but I do often wake up for an hour at a time in the early morning. In these instances, the Galaxy Watch 4 would record two separate sleeps, but show me the total time asleep in the morning recap.
Another recovery tool, the Galaxy Watch 4s stress app shows your stress levels. I stayed in the green, which means not too stressed, but the smartwatch still gave me the option to launch a breathing session. The Fitbit Sense takes a more convincing approach to stress monitoring and management, though its encouraging to see Samsungs watch catching up.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active : Sleep Tracking
Like the original Galaxy Watch Active, the Active 2 tracks your sleep, which wont completely kill your battery. I wore the watch to bed for almost a week, and I found the breakdown of light, REM and deep sleep to be as interesting as it is in Fitbits sleep-tracking dashboard.
Unfortunately, the watchs native sleep-tracking wasnt as accurate as I had hoped. One night, the watch told me I fell asleep after 3 a.m., when I definitely went to bed closer to midnight. I have a knack for falling asleep instantly and staying there, so Im not sure why the watch pegged my bedtime so late. On another evening, I put the watch in Goodnight mode to turn off the always-on display and then hit the sack. The next morning, the sleep widget on the watch itself reported my sleep accurately, but the data wouldnt sync to the Samsung Health app.
With some fine-tuning, the Galaxy Watch Active 2s sleep-tracking could be more useful. For now, it lags behind the Fitbit Versa 2 and Fitbit Charge 3, but ahead of Apple Watch and watches based on Googles Wear OS, which can pull data from third-party sleep-tracking apps but cant track your sleep on their own.

How To Turn On Snore Detection
- On your phone, open Settings > Apps > Samsung Health
- Go to Sleep > More options > Snore detection
- You can also find this option in your watchs Settings > Measurements > Snore Detection
Once you turn snore detection on, wear your Galaxy 4 watch to bed and place your phone on a flat surface, near your head. Once your watch detects that you are sleeping, your phones microphone picks up and records any snoring sounds.
Get A Better Nights Sleep
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, around 70 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep problems. If youre one of them, a smartwatch might be able to help you understand why. Many popular options offer sleep tracking features that keep an eye on troublesome sleep behaviors you might not be aware of.
The Apple Watch Series 3 and newer can, for example, detect how long you were asleep and track your breathing throughout the night. And thats just the tip of the iceberg.
Most of Garmins Forerunner smartwatches monitor your blood oxygen levels while sleeping, and your respiration, too. Itll even attempt to measure how much time you spent in different sleep phases light, deep or REM in order to give you a sleep score in the morning, plus some advice on how easy you should take it that day.
Fitbits were among the first fitness trackers out there to support sleep tracking and the companys smartwatches like the Fitbit Sense continue to carry that torch. The Sense features all of the same tracking tricks that Garmin watches do, but with one helpful addition: a smart wake mode that will wake you up to 30 minutes before your alarm if it thinks you arent sleeping deeply anymore.
