Send Quick Replies On Gear Fit2
You can read all the messages you get on the Fit2 but you can’t actually type anything back. However, there’s a list of pre-set messages Samsung provides – and you can add your own to the list as well.
To do so, you’ll need your Android phone again. Open up ‘Settings’ and then ‘Quick Messages.’ From here, you can add or delete from two lists: quick responses and call-reject messages. Press edit or the plus symbol for your own list of customized messages.
Value For Money & The Competition
The Samsung Galaxy Fit will run you $99.99, and you can pick it up on Amazon, Samsung.com, or other retailers.
I think $100 is a perfectly fair price for the Galaxy Fit theres nothing inherently wrong with the device, and it delivers just about everything it set out to do.
You should only entertain the idea of buying one after considering the competition. The Fitbit Inspire HR is the Galaxy Fits biggest competitor. Its the exact same price and has a similar feature set, though it has a worse screen and a blander design. It does, however, have connected GPS, which runners will surely appreciate.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is also out now. At less than half the price of the Galaxy Fit, the Mi Band 4 offers a similar feature set, connected GPS, and 20-day battery life for around $40 in the U.S. Xiaomis Mi Fit app isnt the greatest, but theres no doubt the Mi Band 4 is one of the best value fitness trackers available.
If you can afford it, though, Id also recommend checking out the Fitbit Charge 4. It offers even more features than both devices listed above and looks way better. At the time of this writing, its on sale for around $50 more than the Galaxy Fit.

Solution : Reducing The Battery Drain
Your Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro might have the problem of having its battery draining too fast. This is likely to occur after an update which turns on the Location and Wi-Fi and other applications running on the background. These applications while active are prone to drain the battery pretty fast. You should first consider turning them off as this will help reduce the battery from draining too fast. Also, the battery draining problem is a common occurrence for most of the users and there are ways to reduce the battery drain.
You might also need to consider force stopping the Samsung Gear, S health, and Gear Fit Manager. After this, you are required to restart your phone and Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro and monitor whether the issue has been resolved. You may also need to clear the cache for these applications. This process is likely to make the draining problem stop.
If none of this works you need to reset your Smart Band. This process will erase all the data from the Gear memory therefore, you should remember to make backup copies of the important data stored in your device.
Gear Fit As Smartwatch
What if you’re looking at the Fit as your new smartwatch? It’s cool to look at and gets tons of notifications, but a word of warning: the Fit won’t run its own apps, and the shape of its display makes for some awkward text-reading.
The Fit’s unique display is also a hindrance. It looks cool, but just like Nike Fuelband, its readout runs horizontally along the band. That’s weird because your wrist naturally turns to the side, and the text suddenly becomes sideways. It works on the Fuelband because its readout is large and simple. The Fit can also flip its display to vertical mode, and for some features, it solves a lot of the horizontal-band problems: the watch is easier to read, and most number-driven functions like heart rate, pedometer, and the alarms and stopwatch work great in vertical mode. They look cool, too. But, text-based notifications and emails stretch out ridiculously, fitting one or two words per line. It’s no way to read an email. Horizontal mode only fits four lines at a time, with about five words per line.
On the Fit, there are plenty of more complex settings, notifications, and other things to read, requiring many taps and swipes. I prefer wearing the Fit in vertical mode for everyday watch use, but it’s not great for text. You’d better get used to living with reading on a stretched-out screen, twisting your neck or arm around, or wearing the Fit on the underside of your wrist .

Why Buy The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro
If youre after a solid fitness tracker with a sprinkling of smartwatch services, the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro is a good choice. This unassuming wearable offers the solid activity tracking and reliable notification services that made the Gear Fit 2 great, but with the added perk of waterproofing.
However, issues with its battery life and a lack of significant changes beyond its ATM rating make it an expensive choice for fitness fans. If youre not a swimmer, the original Gear Fit 2 is a more cost-effective option. Plus, there are cheaper dedicated trackers for people unconcerned about smartwatch functionality.
Is Fitbit Versa 3 Worth Buying
The Fitbit Versa 3 is Fitbits best smartwatch for most people. With an always-on display, built-in GPS, blood oxygen and temperature tracking during sleep, and a battery that lasts six days, the Versa 3 holds its own against some of its pricier competitors like the Apple Watch SE and even the Fitbit Sense.

How To Tag Heart Rate
You can turn on continuous heart rate tracking for a complete look of your heart on a 24-hour basis or you can manually take your heart rate.
For tracked workouts, heart rate monitoring kicks in immediately. Whichever way you want to do it, you can also tag heart rate each time you use it. That way you can keep track of what’s what in your 24-hour log. There aren’t a lot of options to choose from – in fact there should be an option to voice-input your own tag, but for now there’s a preset list of choices.
What To Consider Before Buying A Samsung Gear Fit2
Theres a new breed of smartwatches in town. Its something of a combination between a smartwatch and a fitness tracker.
Of course, this isnt a new idea. In fact, even the first-generation Apple Watch featured fitness tracking technologies in the form of Apple Health.
Yet several companies have taken the idea to the next level. One of them is Samsung.
The original Samsung Gear Fit was a fitness tracker through and through. It had very few features outside of those designed for fitness.
Released shortly after was the Samsung Gear S2. A stylish and effective smartwatch, it was designed to be just that a smartwatch. Very few fitness features were present.
The Samsung Gear Fit2 is a combination of both . It has everything you need in a smartwatch plus everything you need in a fitness tracker.
This makes it an excellent choice for fitness buffs that also want a smartwatch. Use the Gear Fit2 to log your morning run then continue wearing it for the rest of the day to receive calls, text, and email notifications.
For a smartwatch that doubles as a fitness tracker, theres no denying that the Gear Fit2 is attractive. Yet its definitely still sporty looking.
If you want to make a fashion statement with your smartwatch, there are plenty of options that are better than the Gear Fit2.
My other smartwatch reviews will give you a better idea of Gear Fit2 alternatives if you put fashion first.
Gear Fit As Fitness Band
The existing crop of fitness bands work well as step-counters, but they lack a “next step” level of encouragement. I know I walk 10,000 steps a day, but what about active exercise? My own doctor reminds me to do exercise that keeps my heart rate up. Last year’s fitness bands like the Nike+ Fuelband and Fitbit Force only track steps. The Gear Fit can track steps, but it also has a heart-rate monitor, too, like some recent wearables such as the Basis Band or even the Withings Pulse .
The Fit does it at the press of a button when on the Heart Rate screen, but it takes a few seconds to complete. The green LED technology is on the back of the band. I needed to stand relatively still to get the reading, and the monitor seemed to work better with the Fit flipped around so its display was on the underside of my wrist — maybe it was my hairy arms, but I didn’t always get a smooth reading.
That’s a better way to wear the Fit, by the way, because it’s easier to check your step/heart rate status while exercising, and to read messages on the go. Was the Fit intended to be worn this way? It’s hard to tell.
Being able to quickly scan my heart rate while running is a plus, but the Fit’s display turns off after a few seconds, and I had to keep hunting for and pressing the small button on the side. The Fit’s supposed to automatically turn on with the flick of a wrist, but I was never able to get it to work more than half the time.
Automated Features To Help Optimize Your Workouts
Boost your fitness routine at the gym with a workout on the elliptical. Galaxy Fit2 detects your workouts so all you have to do is focus on getting into the zone. It automatically recognizes five different exercises including ellipticals, so you can track your time, heart rate, calories burned, and so much more.

Sarah Tew/cnet Leashed To Samsung
The Gear Fit suffers greatest because of the same limitation the Galaxy Gear had: it only works with certain Samsung phones and tablets: Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Grand 2, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3. Galaxy S4 Zoom, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy Mega 6.3, Galaxy Mega 5.8, Galaxy Note 10.1 , Galaxy NotePRO , and Galaxy TabPRO . That’s a lot more device support than the Galaxy Gear had at launch — it only worked the Note 3 at first — but it still means that the Gear Fit is, for now, a Samsung device-specific accessory. I tested the Gear Fit with a Samsung Galaxy S5 running the newest version of S Health.
The Gear Fit’s main settings are managed via the Gear Fit Manager app, which allows you to tweak sync settings with S Health, do all the exercise-goal, watch customization and other settings you can also adjust on the Gear Fit, and select which phone notifications get pushed to the Fit. There’s also the option to have a more limited set of notifications, and let your phone act as the main hub for the rest of your information, much like the original Galaxy Gear did.
What Causes Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro Not To Work As Expected
After receiving numerous reports from multiple users, we decided to investigate the issue and came up with a set of solutions that solved the problem for most of our users. Also, we looked into the reasons due to which the issue arises and listed them below.
- Syncing problem: This problem occurs when Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro fails to fetch data from the S Health app. Thus, this prevents the device from functioning well.
- Bluetooth failure: This issue arises when there is no successful pairing of devices. To achieve the pairing between your Smart Band and your phone, you need to ensure a proper Bluetooth connection.
- Battery draining too fast: Your Gear Fit battery drains too fast due to the addition of new features and the availability of active applications. Wi-Fi and location should be turned off in your smart band since they consume a lot of battery power.
- Reboot loop: This is caused by a bug or a glitch in your device that creates the reboot loop. This can be solved by restarting your devices or resetting them when necessary.
- Firmware issue: The use of outdated software will limit the number of features and also prevent the well-functioning of your Samsung Gear fit band. Therefore, an update is very crucial to allow for the normal working of the Smart Band.
- Bugs and Glitches: These are the faults or errors that appear in your device with the intention of producing unexpected results or acting in unintended ways.

Solution : Ensure Proper Bluetooth Pairing
Your smart band may have problems of not successfully pairing through Bluetooth. This can prevent the functioning of the Smart Band due to the inability to pair with your smartphone. To ensure that there is a proper Bluetooth pairing you need to turn on Bluetooth on your Smartphone and Smart Band and consider the solutions below:
Get Better Battery Life
The Gear Fit 2 can manage to muster up to three days of battery with the power saving mode enabled, but in general will get you through a couple of days of tracking before you’re clipping back into its charging cradle.
There are some easy ways to help it push a little closer to those three days. The first thing to do is to turn off automatic data syncing to S Health. That’s a big drain on battery. You can do that by going to the S Health app, heading to Settings and then Account to toggle off automatic syncing.
You can also turn off the always-on watch mode, decrease the brightness from the dropdown menu and limit the notifications you want to be alerted about. This can be adjusted in the Notifications menu in the Gear app.

So What Was The Problem All Along
We wrote earlier about the issues connected to publishing apps for the Gear Fit 2. Samsung doesnt want anyone except some of their close partners to publish apps for this watch. Reason unknown, but having been in close contact with Gear Fit 2 for some time, I guess that its partly a marketing decision, but also that the watch has pretty shoddy firmware, which isnt up to par with other fully supported Tizen watches like S2 or S3. Its missing some functions important for apps, and you only have to guess which ones since its not documented anywhere.
The watch UI also isnt able to handle loads of apps. Having only a linear app selection menu, it becomes unwieldy very fast with the growing number of installed apps.
While these issues wouldnt be making the developers life easy on the device, they dont feel like good enough reasons to scratch the app development altogether. The Gear Fit 2 is, in my opinion, a very nice watch/band hybrid, in fact much more practical than the circular Samsung watches.
I believe that we now prove that it can still be made phenomenal when you add some useful apps to the mix like Sleep as Android.
