Value For Money & The Competition

How Do You Track Sleep On The Xiaomi Mi Band 5?

The Samsung Galaxy Fit will run you $99.99, and you can pick it up on Amazon, Samsung.com, or other retailers.

I think $100 is a perfectly fair price for the Galaxy Fit theres nothing inherently wrong with the device, and it delivers just about everything it set out to do.

You should only entertain the idea of buying one after considering the competition. The Fitbit Inspire HR is the Galaxy Fits biggest competitor. Its the exact same price and has a similar feature set, though it has a worse screen and a blander design. It does, however, have connected GPS, which runners will surely appreciate.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is also out now. At less than half the price of the Galaxy Fit, the Mi Band 4 offers a similar feature set, connected GPS, and 20-day battery life for around $40 in the U.S. Xiaomis Mi Fit app isnt the greatest, but theres no doubt the Mi Band 4 is one of the best value fitness trackers available.

If you can afford it, though, Id also recommend checking out the Fitbit Charge 4. It offers even more features than both devices listed above and looks way better. At the time of this writing, its on sale for around $50 more than the Galaxy Fit.

Why Buy The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro

If youre after a solid fitness tracker with a sprinkling of smartwatch services, the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro is a good choice. This unassuming wearable offers the solid activity tracking and reliable notification services that made the Gear Fit 2 great, but with the added perk of waterproofing.

However, issues with its battery life and a lack of significant changes beyond its ATM rating make it an expensive choice for fitness fans. If youre not a swimmer, the original Gear Fit 2 is a more cost-effective option. Plus, there are cheaper dedicated trackers for people unconcerned about smartwatch functionality.

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 Design: Bulky But Beautiful Screen

The Mi Band 4 has the same slim, oblong shape as its predecessor, the Mi Band 3, and is compatible with third-gen accessories. The new band is more refined: flatter on top, with a larger, brighter touch screen. It comes with an adjustable black silicone strap that can be swapped out for different colors or styles, as well as a USB charging cradle. The Mi Band 4 has a built-in optical heart-rate sensor and is water resistant up to 50 meters.

This isn’t the sleekest or sexiest fitness tracker. The actual device measures 45 x 15-mm and is 14-mm thick. This makes it a little larger than its competitors, such as the Fitbit Inspire HR and the Garmin Vivofit 4, but it probably won’t make a big difference unless you have particularly small wrists.

I do happen to have small wrists , and the Mi Band 4 is just a little too long for me to wear comfortably 24/7, especially because the device doesn’t conform to the curve of my wrist. The included strap angles the watch face ever so slightly toward you, if you’re wearing it on your left wrist. It almost certainly won’t make a difference if you’re wearing it on your right, because the angle really is that slight. But if you think it looks slightly off, that’s because it is.

Xiaomi Mi Band : Track Your Sleep Effectively With The Newly Added Sleep Breathing Quality Feature

According to recent sources, Xiaomis recently launched Mi Band 6 will be getting a new OTA update. The update brings along with it a key feature related to fitness and well-being. The fitness tracker can be updated using the OEMs Mi Fit App and will be first made available for users in India and China.

The new OTA update will add a sleep breathing quality feature on the Mi Band 6. The band already supports features such as sleep tracking with REM, and sleep breathing has also now made its way to the device.

The feature was first introduced during the launch of Mi Band 6, and it monitors your breathing quality while you are asleep. It is also supported by sleep tracking using REM and non-REM options.

REM sleep occurs at intervals during the night and is characterized by rapid eye movements, more dreaming, faster pulse, breathing, and body movements. If you are too much into your work and your stress level shoots up, you might experience an improper sleep cycle at times.

REM sleep tracking and sleep breathing quality can help you figure out how frequently you are experiencing discomfort. Speaking of other features of the Mi Band 6, it has more than 130+ watch faces, 60+ watch faces, 30 exercise modes, 6 auto-detect exercise modes, 24×7 heart rate monitoring, SpO2.

The device features a 1.56-inch AMOLED display. This 2.5D curved display, 5ATM water-resistance, a 125mAh LiPo battery with up to 14 days battery, NFC, and more.

How To Improve Battery Life

The battery performance on the Mi Band 5 is generally pretty good. However with the promise of more features, that battery life is inevitably going to take a hit.

There are a few things that have a more noticeable impact on battery performance and thankfully you can turn them off.

Automatic heart rate monitoring, Xiaomi’s sleep assistant and all-day stress monitoring all have notable drain on battery. If you don’t care about these features and want to turn them off:

  • Go to the Mi Fit app on your phone
  • Go to Profile and then tap on Mi Smart Band 5
  • Scroll down to Heart rate monitoring and select Monitoring method
  • From here you will be able to turn on/off all of the features we’ve described above.

Setting Up A Reminder Alert

There is a surprising amount going on in the way of app alerts on the Mi Band 4. It can actually all feel a bit overwhelming at first. One of the nice features you may want to get used to is setting up reminders.

You can do this by hitting the More option in the device settings on your Mi Fit app. The event reminders are just one of many app alerts you can set up or turn on. You can simply pick a date, write the little reminder message and even assign a vibration to it to make sure you don’t miss it.

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 Notifications: Extensive And Customizable

How does the MI band 3 track our sleep??

The Mi Band 4 may look like it’s all about fitness, but this band is more fully featured than your average bare-bones budget fitness tracker. In addition to its fitness- and sleep-tracking capabilities, the Mi Band 4 also functions like a smartwatch by offering customizable alerts for a variety of phone- and non-phone-related functions, including incoming calls, texts, app alerts, emails, events and alarms.

Using the Mi Fit app, you can toggle these alerts on and off . You can also create your own custom vibration patterns for each category, which means you can have different vibration patterns for calls, texts, apps , email and more.

The Mi Band 4 can display incoming texts on its screen though the screen is pretty small and narrow, so it’s not great for reading text messages but you’ll need to pick up your phone if you want to respond.

Lift Your Wrist To View

A lot of smartwatches and fitness trackers do this, but what we like about it on the Mi Band 4 is that you can control response speed and when that feature is enabled time-wise. That’s handy if you don’t want it constantly going off in the night for instance.

To get to those lift wrist to view settings, go to the device page on the Mi Fit app and look for Left wrist to view data menu. From there, you can pick from normal or sensitive response speeds and the time windows the feature will be in use.

Gear Fit As Smartwatch

What if youre looking at the Fit as your new smartwatch? Its cool to look at and gets tons of notifications, but a word of warning: the Fit wont run its own apps, and the shape of its display makes for some awkward text-reading.

The Fits unique display is also a hindrance. It looks cool, but just like Nike Fuelband, its readout runs horizontally along the band. Thats weird because your wrist naturally turns to the side, and the text suddenly becomes sideways. It works on the Fuelband because its readout is large and simple. The Fit can also flip its display to vertical mode, and for some features, it solves a lot of the horizontal-band problems: the watch is easier to read, and most number-driven functions like heart rate, pedometer, and the alarms and stopwatch work great in vertical mode. They look cool, too. But, text-based notifications and emails stretch out ridiculously, fitting one or two words per line. Its no way to read an email. Horizontal mode only fits four lines at a time, with about five words per line.

On the Fit, there are plenty of more complex settings, notifications, and other things to read, requiring many taps and swipes. I prefer wearing the Fit in vertical mode for everyday watch use, but its not great for text. Youd better get used to living with reading on a stretched-out screen, twisting your neck or arm around, or wearing the Fit on the underside of your wrist .

Solution : Ensure Proper Bluetooth Pairing

Your smart band may have problems of not successfully pairing through Bluetooth. This can prevent the functioning of the Smart Band due to the inability to pair with your smartphone. To ensure that there is a proper Bluetooth pairing you need to turn on Bluetooth on your Smartphone and Smart Band and consider the solutions below:

  • Check the version of your phone. Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro will only work with Android version 4.4 or later versions and iOS 9.0 and later versions. If this requirement is not met, then you will not be able to connect your Smart Band to your phone via Bluetooth.
  • Check your phones Bluetooth version. Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro has a Bluetooth version of 4.2. If you want to achieve a successful connection, you must ensure that your phone has a Bluetooth version of not lower than 4. You check the Bluetooth version by going to settings, click on apps, select Bluetooth Share and check the version.
  • Turn on discoverable mode. In order to allow your phone to pair with your Smart Band, you need to ensure that your phone is visible to the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro.
  • Ensure your pairing devices are in close connection range. Make sure the distance between your phone and the Samsung Gear fit 2 Pro-Smart Band is within 5 meters.
  • Clear all the Bluetooth history in your phone to allow a proper pairing with your device. This will prevent unnecessary connection to the old devices. You can achieve this by unpairing the connected devices one by one as shown below.
  • Solution : Reducing The Battery Drain

    Fitbit Alta HR

Your Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro might have the problem of having its battery draining too fast. This is likely to occur after an update which turns on the Location and Wi-Fi and other applications running on the background. These applications while active are prone to drain the battery pretty fast. You should first consider turning them off as this will help reduce the battery from draining too fast. Also, the battery draining problem is a common occurrence for most of the users and there are ways to reduce the battery drain.

You might also need to consider force stopping the Samsung Gear, S health, and Gear Fit Manager. After this, you are required to restart your phone and Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro and monitor whether the issue has been resolved. You may also need to clear the cache for these applications. This process is likely to make the draining problem stop.

If none of this works you need to reset your Smart Band. This process will erase all the data from the Gear memory therefore, you should remember to make backup copies of the important data stored in your device.

Make Sure That Track Your Activities Is Enabled

Under Google Fits settings, you should find an option thats called Track your activities. This allows Google Fit to use your phones sensor in order to track steps and distance. If you somehow ended up accidentally turning that option off, then this is the root of the tracking issues for you.

    To fix that, go to:

  • Google Fit
  • Profile
  • Settings
  • And toggle Track your activities to On
  • While youre at it, if you have an issue with map tracking, make sure that Include maps for all activities and the GPS are enabled as well.

If your GPS toggle is in the status bar, simply drag it down and tap on Location. If not, you need to go to:

  • Settings
  • Location
  • And toggle to Use location
  • And you also need to make sure that Google Fit itself has access to location permissions. Thats one of the main reasons when Google Fit is not tracking activities.

Built To Fit Your Active Lifestyle

Galaxy Fit2 is built as tough as you are. Water-resistant up to 50m with 5ATM certification, it helps you push yourself through workouts. Jump right in to your fitness routine with confidence.

*Galaxy Fit2 has a water resistance rating of 50 meters under the ISO standard 22810:2010. It is not suitable for diving or high-pressure water activities.

What to buy, what you shouldn’t, and how to use it all.

If youre in the market for a fitness tracker, youre more than likely hoping to modify your health behavior whether its remembering to walk more, tracking how often you work out, or making sure youre working out appropriately hard when you do. The wearables market is saturated with options, but you wont find one thats much more affordable than Xiaomis latest Mi Band 4. Its packed with features for half the price of counterparts from Fitbit and Garmin.

Theres a lot to like about the Mi Band 4. For $40, you get a fitness tracker that has waterproofing, a heart rate monitor, workout tracking, text and call notifications, sleep tracking, and an impressive battery life of up to three full weeks, depending on usage. Compared to the monochrome Mi Band 3, version 4 has a 0.95-inch full-color OLED touchscreen with a 400-nit peak brightness. The screen is colorful and vivid, responding quickly to up and down swipes to browse through menu options for music control, alarms, workout tracking modes, or settings. The raise to wake the screen option wasnt always successful, but I do like that it allows you to only turn this feature on between certain hours of the day so it doesnt suddenly turn on while youre tossing and turning in bed.

Mi Band 5 Science Review: Better Than Fitbit?! (sleep, heart rate, steps test)

The Xiaomi Mi Band 6s design is essentially unchanged from the previous two generations of Mi Bands. Its made of a small tracker module that fits into a thin silicone strap. The black model of our Xiaomi Mi Band 6 review unit isnt all that eye-catching, but there are plenty of third-party options available around the internet.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 6’s design is essentially unchanged from the previous two generations.

The strap that comes with the Mi Band 6 feels okay. Its soft and doesnt collect dust or hair, which is always a win. Im not a huge fan of the pin-in-hole buckle, but I know many people prefer them. Also, the Mi Band 6 works with Mi Band 5 bands . So, Mi Band 5 owners can use their existing straps if they upgrade to the 6.

The one big improvement on the design front is the upgraded display. The Xiaomi Mi Band 6 boasts a much larger 1.56-inch AMOLED display, which is 50% bigger than the Mi Band 5s 1.1-inch screen. The display nearly spans to the edge of the case and makes the fitness tracker look much more modern.

Unfortunately, theres no ambient light sensor. The display gets plenty bright, even when viewing it outdoors in direct sunlight. Still, you might find yourself manually adjusting the display brightness if youre transitioning between darker and lighter environments.
