If your device doesnt track heart rate, you see your sleep pattern in the Fitbit app. Your sleep pattern includes your time spent awake, restless, and asleep. By tracking beat-to-beat changes in your heart rate, Fitbit determines how much time you spent in each stage and how close you were to your sleeping goal.

    Correlation Between Sleep Parameters Assessed By Fitbit Versus Sleep Diary

    A total of 3 studies investigated the extent of correlation between sleep parameters derived by a nonsleep-staging Fitbit model and a self-rated sleep diary 1 of them involved two different Fitbit models .     How To Make Fitbit Track Sleeping Work

    Surge helps track sleep automatically. All you need to do is to wear your device to bed. You will be able to view your stats when the tracker syncs with your account.

    Flex

    After getting into bed, tap you Flex for about 2 seconds. The tracker will vibrate and display 2 slowly dimming lights as an indicator for sleep mode. Goal progress is not displayed while the device is in this mode.

    After you wake up, tap your Flex rapidly for about 2 seconds. The device will exit sleep mode. When you do this, the Flex will flash and vibrate 3 times and then display a spinning light pattern. You can view your stats after Flex has synced with your Fitbit account.

    One/Ultra

    To activate sleep tracking, hold the button on the tracker for several seconds. You will notice the stopwatch begin to count or the icons start to blink. This is an indication that the device is in sleep mode. After you wake up, hold the trackers button for about 2 seconds to exit sleep mode.

    What Is Fitbit Sleep Score

    What do the numbers mean, and what is Fitbit Sleep Score exactly? It is a feature designed to give you a detailed look into your sleeping patterns and help you develop healthier habits. You will find it on your Fitbit smartphone app in the sleep widget on the home screen. For it to work, of course, you need to wear your Fitbit tracker to sleep. Once you have done that, the app will generate a report soon after you wake up, usually a couple of minutes later.

    You will find how long you slept, how much time you were awake, and how much time you spent in each sleep stage: REM, light, and deep. Your overall score is calculated based on all of these metrics. These are the typical ranges:

    • Excellent: 90 to 100
    • Fair: 60 to 79
    • Poor: less than 60

    Dont be alarmed if you dont typically reach a score of 90 or above. According to Fitbit, most users on average score between 72 and 83. Also, a score might not be generated every time. This can occur if your tracker was put on too loosely or in a position that prevented consistent heart rate readings.

    What Is Estimated Oxygen Variation

    Fitbit Alta – Sleep Tracking Features – FEATURE REVIEW

    A reading of the oxygen levels in your blood, it uses a red LED in the optical heart rate monitor.

    Fitbit’s detection is a little different. Rather than spitting out a single percentage score it examines the difference in the highs and lows of your blood oxygen, and looks to highlight potential underlying conditions.

    However, that would require you checking and understanding the data.

    Fitbit has been packing SpO2 sensors into some of its wearables, so if you have a Charge 3, Fitbit Ionic or any Versa smartwatch you’re good to go.

    Users of Inspire or Alta trackers don’t have the hardware inside, so won’t get the update.
