Best Versatile App: Sleep Cycle
Why We Chose It: We chose Sleep Cycle as the best versatile app as it is available on iOS, Android, and Huawei.
Overlay of audio recordings on the sleep cycle graph for better interpretation
Able to identify a variety of different sounds, including coughing, talking, snoring, and a baby fussing
Lack of in-depth analysis of sleep compared to other apps
Need to manually start and stop sleep tracking
Poor descriptions of different tracking metrics
Sleep Cycle by Sleep Cycle AB gives you a simplified look at sleep patterns by analyzing audio recordings of snoring, talking, coughing, and other sounds. This app tracks your sleep cycle graphically and overlays audio recordings to help identify what is going on during different periods of sleep.
It has an average rating of 4.7 stars on the App Store and 4.4 stars on Google Play, as of March 2021. Sleep Cycle offers sleep statistics and can identify both short- and long-term trends. No equipment or fitness wearables are needed all you need to do is have your phone beside your bed. The app must be turned on before going to bed, and since it uses sound analysis to identify sleep states, there is the potential for error if you sleep with others in the room. You do need to start and stop the sleep timer manually, which can be problematic if you forget to do this regularly.
Oura Ring Vs Apple Watch
The Oura Ring and Apple Watch arent even in the same category. Smartwatches are larger and have more room internally for advanced calculations and features. People who wear the Apple Watch are looking for all the features of the Oura Ring and Motiv Ring along with cell phone connectivity and two-way communication.
Outstanding App Of Its Type
I was one of the first people to buy this app many years ago and still use it through many upgrades. Ive purchased and installed many similar apps, including ones attempting to use the Apple Watch to detect sleep state and they all fall short of Sleep Cycle. This app is precise, reliable and simple to use as well as loaded with features. Moreover the displays of sleep state and snoring sounds are easy to understand. Sleep cycle uses algorithms working of the microphone and has always worked through air conditioning sound even those noisy portable units for me. You can switch it to use the motion sensor in which case you must leave the phone on the mattress. The snooze alarm is brilliant because the snooze intervals shorten each time, making it impossible to overs snooze and resets by simply moving the phone.

Be aware that other medical costs will also factor into the full price per cycle depending on your doctor and your region, the treatment could cost anywhere from $500 to $2,000 per month.
Some insurance plans will cover all aspects of infertility treatments , while other insurance plans dont. Youll want to call your insurance company to find out if Clomid is covered by your plan.

How Sleep Trackers Work
Tracking sleep at home is hard. In fact, its like trying to track an earthquake, said Thomas Penzel, PhD, research director of the Interdisciplinary Center of Sleep Medicine at Charité University in Berlin. Just as you cant sit inside the earth and watch tectonic plates shift, you cant directly peer into your own brain as youre sleeping. So you need proxies. In a sleep lab, scientists use medical-grade equipment and sensors to record brain activity, eye movements, body movements, heart rate, oxygen intake, and more. This process, called polysomnography, is the most reliable method of sleep tracking.
Unfortunately, the sleep trackers designed and currently available for home use cant read brain waves and eye movements, which most reliably track stages of sleep, so instead they guesstimate based on less accurate signs. The current technologies include the following:
Movement tracking: Accelerometersmore commonly used to measure sleep in fitness trackers and other wearables than in phone appsinterpret stillness as sleep and movement as wakefulness. But an accelerometer is not very accurate when you use one alone because it may perceive you as being asleep when youre merely lying still staring at the ceiling. And if you toss and turn a lot in your sleep, the accelerometer will register that youre awake. Thats why sleep tracking typically pairs movement tracking with other technologies, such as optical heart-rate monitoring.
How Does Femara Work
Femara works in a similar way to Clomid, suppressing estrogen leading to an increase in FSH production, which stimulates the ovarian follicles to mature and triggers ovulation.
Youll take 2.5 mg of Femara per day on days five through nine of your cycle .
Women who havent had ovulation luck using Clomid may find more success with Femara, especially if they have polycystic ovarian syndrome .
Many doctors are finding significant success with Femara, and prefer to use it over Clomid because it has a lower risk of side effects and a reduced chance of conceiving multiples.

Expert Tips To Help You Get Enough Sleep
Learners not getting the recommended sleep for college students should practice the expert tips below. Trying just 1-2 of them may improve sleep considerably.
Napping features numerous potential benefits, such as improving learning outcomes, increasing wakefulness, and assisting memory formation. However, some people who nap too long experience difficulty falling asleep at night. A productive nap involves sleeping for less than one hour and doing so before lunch. Other tips include performing relaxation exercises before napping.
Many college students turn to coffee and other caffeinated beverages to stay awake during the day and complete coursework at night. However, some people who ingest caffeine in the afternoon take longer to fall asleep than their peers. Other negative outcomes may include a higher chance of developing sleep apnea later in life.
Many electronic devices such as phones, televisions, and computers emit blue light. Although beneficial for viewing text and images, blue light suppresses melatonin, the tiredness hormone. College students who set aside these devices at least one hour before bed sleep better. They also decrease the chances of developing diabetes, cancer, and other medical conditions.

What Are Sleep Apps
A variety of apps call themselves sleep apps, but not all of these apps do the same thing. Some sleep apps offer relaxing sounds, such as white noise, music, nature sounds, and guided meditations, for sleepers to listen to as they fall asleep. Other sleep apps act as alarm clocks with more features than a phones default alarm clock. Sleep tracking apps operate differently, collecting data as you sleep.
Sleep tracking apps use smartphones built-in accelerometers to record and interpret sleep data each night. Sleep apps commonly track movements during sleep, record sound, wake sleepers up at the right time in their sleep cycle with an alarm, and provide insight into interpreting sleep data. Sleep apps are generally convenient, affordable, and able to provide tangible information on sleep quality.
Research on the efficacy of sleep apps is still underway. There has yet to be definitive data on what sleep apps can provide compared to a traditional sleep study. The validity of sleep apps is still a prominent concern for researchers. Research shows that few sleep apps have been adequately studied and demonstrated to aid sleep management.
Despite a lack of research surrounding the validity of sleep apps, many people find that the act of tracking their own activity data is a powerful motivational tool to help them implement healthy lifestyle changes. People often track sleep along with other measures, such as movement and heart rate.
How To Have More Energy In The Morning
The best way to have more energy is to get enough sleep, but you can also
Drink a large glass of water in the morning. Your body just went 6 to 8 hours without any liquid. If you are feeling lethargic and groggy in the morning, you may often be slightly dehydrated. The first thing I do when I wake up is drink a large, cold glass of water.
Start the day in the sunlight. Sunshine is the new coffee. Getting sunlight in your morning routine is critical for establishing your circadian rhythm and waking your brain and body for the day. This is why, in the words of my friend Ben Greenfield, You may find you need none or very little coffee in the summer or in times of high sun exposure, but youre a complete monster if you dont get your morning cup of coffee in the grey winter months.10

How Long Does Caffeine Last
The effects of caffeine are measured by its half-life, which typically ranges from 4-6 hours. The half-life means the time that your body has metabolized, or processed through, half the caffeine you consumed. As a result, the six-hour half-life of a caffeinated beverage you consume in the afternoon could keep you up at night.
Some factors can slow or speed up the metabolism of caffeine. Nicotine use can reduce the half-life of caffeine by up to 50%, so frequent smokers process through caffeine much quicker, with a half-life as short as two hours. By contrast, pregnant women experience slower caffeine metabolism. It is recommended that those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid coffee, or limit intake to 16 ounces or less per day .
During pregnancy, caffeine can be passed to the baby through the placenta. A trace amount of caffeine can also be found in breast milk. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding and concerned about your caffeine intake, talk to your health care provider about what steps you should take to ensure optimum health for you and your baby.
How Much Rem Sleep Should You Get
Although theres no official consensus on how much REM sleep you should get, dreaming is most common during this stage. Experts believe that dreaming helps you process emotions and solidify certain memories.
For most adults, REM takes up about 20 to 25 percent of sleep, and this seems to be healthy during average sleep cycles. However, sleep research is raising some interesting questions. One recent study suggested that higher amounts of REM sleep may be associated with depression. But dont go making sudden changes in your sleep habits it is not clear which is the cause and which is the effect.

Each of these stagesor sleep typesserve a different purpose, so understanding how much of each stage you log can help you identify and address sleep-related issues. Below, a breakdown of what you need to know about each sleep stage.
Exercise And Fitness Tracking
Since the WHOOP Strap doesnt have any buttons or a display, you cant tell the device to start an exercise routine. The good news is that you dont have to. Remember, WHOOP measures your heart rate 100 times per second, all the time. That allows the gadget to detect when youre working out.
WHOOP can automatically detect over 80 types of exercises that last longer than 15 minutes or result in a strain score of eight or higher.
Additionally, WHOOP uses a classic accelerometer to detect movement. Thats helpful for certain types of exercises, like lifting weights, that increase your heart rate only moderately. Alternatively, you can use the WHOOP app on your smartphone to start or log an activity, instead of relying on the trackers automatic detection capabilities.
Whats crucial is that WHOOP uses the collected data to calculate your daily strain. In other words, the device can tell you how hard your cardiovascular system worked on a given day. Thats important because it directly influences your recovery and sleep
WHOOP measures your daily accumulated strain score using a scale from 0 to 21:
- 0 9.9: Light
- 14 17.9: Strenuous
- 18 21: All out
Note that WHOOP calculates strain from your max heart rate, which means that score is highly personalized. The same workout, performed by different people , might result in different strain scores. So dont compare your results to someone elses.

Flaws But Not Dealbreakers
As of February 2021, SleepScore works only on specific phones. It doesnt work with the iPhone 5, 5s, and SE but is compatible with any iPhone with iOS software 10.3.3 or higher . As for Android phones, it works with the Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S8, S8+, S9, S9+, Note 8, and Note 9, as well as the Google Pixel 2 XL.
When we asked the company about this limitation, the representative explained that because the app is dependent on a phones speaker and microphone, the company tests the app on each specific phone model for accuracy before supporting that phone. SleepScore says that if youre using an unsupported Android model, you will still be able to track your sleep using that device, but the SleepScore app features and functionality will vary. We also wonder whether this failure to update may open up any security issues on non-compatible phones. To be safe, we think its best for those with incompatible phones to skip SleepScore and try our also-great pick, Sleep Cycle, instead. Android users who dont mind a wonky interface could try Sleep as Android, which contains cool features but is difficult to navigate.
We also wished that the app could track snoring by itself, like Sleep Cycle, Pillow, and Sleep as Android can. However, SleepScore Labs does make a companion app to track snoring called Do I Snore or Grind?, which based on our limited testing seemed more sensitive, and possibly more accurate.
