Fitbit: How To Use Sleep Tools
  • Sync your Fitbit device using the Fitbit app
  • Tap the sleep icon
  • Press Today or Last Night
  • In the top right, tap the expand icon. This will show you information about your sleep cycle. Press the expand icon again to close it.
  • Scroll down to view more data. You can press 30 Day Avg and Benchmark to see more data.

    Change Or Turn Off Your Next Wake

  • Open the Sleep app on your Apple Watch.

  • Tap your current bedtime.

  • To set a new wake-up time, tap the wake-up time, turn the Digital Crown to set a new time, then tap Set.

    If you dont want your Apple Watch to wake you in the morning, turn off Alarm.

  • The changes apply only to your next wake-up alarm, after which your normal schedule resumes.

    Note: You can also turn off the next wake-up alarm in the Alarms app . Just tap the alarm that appears under Sleep | Wake up, then tap Skip for Tonight.

    Heres a breakdown, along with Fitbits explanation, of what each stage means:

    Awake: When it comes to being awake during the night, many of us think that waking up at all is bad news. Turns out, waking up during the night is a normal part of sleep. In fact, waking up anywhere in the ballpark of 10-30 times in a single evening is normal.

    So, if youre one of those people who roll over a few times during the night or get up to pee once or twice, youre just like everyone else. Theres nothing to be super worried about.

    Light Sleep: Light sleep occurs when your body starts to slow down at night, its that moment when you start to fall asleep, but you could be easily woken. The best example is probably those moments when youre commuting and fall asleep on the train or in the passenger seat of your co-worker’s car. When youre in light sleep, you may be aware of what is going on around you, and someone can wake you up easily but youre still asleep.

    During this sleep stage, your heart rate decreases slightly from what it is when youre awake. Just because you can be woken easily doesnt mean this isnt a useful stage light sleep helps a ton with mental and physical recovery, so you can feel better after an hour of light sleep than you did before you started to snooze.

    How To View Sleep Tracking Data On The Watch

  • In addition to tracking your sleep data in the app, you can also access this information from the watch face itself.
  • Press the left side button to wake up the screen.
  • Scroll up from the bottom of the screen until you see Today.
  • Scroll up until you get to the sleep icon .
  • Scroll to the left once to see minutes awake, minutes in REM, light, and deep sleep.
  • Scroll to the left again to see total hours slept and a graph of your sleep over the last seven days.
  • There’s really nothing to tracking your sleep with a Fitbit tracker beyond simply setting up the app and wearing the device to sleep. Just be mindful of your band since improper placement can effect the tracking. As long as it’s secure on your wrist and the battery is fully charged, you’ll get a reading automatically.     Change Or Add A Sleep Schedule

  • Open the Sleep app

  • Tap Full Schedule, then do one of the following:

  • Change a sleep schedule: Tap the current schedule.

  • Add a sleep schedule: Tap Add Another Schedule.

  • Change your sleep goal: Tap Sleep Goal, then set the amount of time you want to sleep.

  • Change Wind Down time: Tap Wind Down, then set the amount of time you want sleep mode to be active before bedtime.

    To reduce distractions before your scheduled bedtime, sleep mode turns on during Wind Down. Sleep mode turns off the watch display and turns on Do Not Disturb.

  • Do any of the following:

  • Set the days for your schedule: Tap your schedule, then tap the area below Active On. Choose days, then tap Done.

  • Adjust your wake time and bedtime: Tap Wake Up or Bedtime, turn the Digital Crown to set a new time, then tap Set.

  • Set the alarm options: Turn Alarm off or on and tap Sound to choose an alarm sound.

  • Remove or cancel a sleep schedule: Tap Delete Schedule to remove an existing schedule, or tap Cancel to cancel creating a new one.

  • How To See Sleep Tracking Data

  • In the morning, open the app. Go to the Today view, selecting from the bottom, left of the main dashboard.
  • Pull down on the page to refresh and sync the app with your tracker. Do this until you see a sleep duration show up under the section that shows the image of the moon and a letter Z. It might take a few tries to sync successfully.
  • Tap on the icon with the moon image and letter Z .
  • At the top, you’ll see a graph showing your Sleep Score for the last seven days, a score that calculates how much time you slept versus was awake, how much deep and REM sleep you got, and your heart rate and restlessness through the night.
  • Swipe left on that graph to see how many hours you slept every night for the last seven days.
  • Swipe left again to see how your actual sleep schedule measures up based on your target sleep schedule.
  • Select Today on the bottom half of the screen, which will show the time you fell asleep and woke up, total hours of sleep, Score, and assessment, from Excellent to Poor.
  • Scroll down to see how many minutes or hours you spent Awake, REM, Light, and Deep sleep a bar chart shows this as well. You can also see the exact times spend in each sleep state.

  • Scroll further down to see your estimated oxygen variation to detect if there were any high variations, which can signal breathing issues.
  • Scroll back up to the Summary and select the 30 Day Avg tab to see the average percentage of time you spend in each sleep state nightly over the last month.

        Hi, , welcome to the community, I’m not sure where you are coming from with your question. This article How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device? explains in detail how your Charge 4 automatically records your sleep. You should find the stats for your most recent rest at the “Sleep score” tile in the app on your phone.

          How do you set up the sleep tracking? I have had my Fitbit for about 5 days now. I see theres 2 ways to set up sleep. One way is hitto begin log,by setting time you go to bed or hitting begin sleep now. Which one of the 2 is the better way? The begin sleep now shows your sleep score the other way does not. Which one shows rem sleep ? Also should I keep it on normal or sensitive sleep?

          To track sleep, do nothing. Fitbit figures it out on its own without you doing anything.

          The normal and sensitive settings were only for trackers without heart rate monitoring that had to guess sleep by motion. It has no effect with the Inspire2.

          Do not use “begin sleep now”. Again that was just for trackers with heart rate monitoring.

          As for setting a bed time, that’s just to help you set your routine. I think it will give you a notice at some time before that to remind you it is time to wind down and start getting ready for bed. But it has no effect on actual sleep tracking.

          How To Make Fitbit Track Sleeping Work

          Surge/Charge HR/Force and Charge

          Surge helps track sleep automatically. All you need to do is to wear your device to bed. You will be able to view your stats when the tracker syncs with your account.

          Flex

          After getting into bed, tap you Flex for about 2 seconds. The tracker will vibrate and display 2 slowly dimming lights as an indicator for sleep mode. Goal progress is not displayed while the device is in this mode.

          After you wake up, tap your Flex rapidly for about 2 seconds. The device will exit sleep mode. When you do this, the Flex will flash and vibrate 3 times and then display a spinning light pattern. You can view your stats after Flex has synced with your Fitbit account.

          One/Ultra

          To activate sleep tracking, hold the button on the tracker for several seconds. You will notice the stopwatch begin to count or the icons start to blink. This is an indication that the device is in sleep mode. After you wake up, hold the trackers button for about 2 seconds to exit sleep mode.
