    Different Types Of Sleep

How To Setting Fitbit Flex ~ Fitbit Manuals

For tracking, Fitbit worked with sleep researchers and the National Sleep Foundation to highlight four specific types of sleep, which you see in a readout in the morning when you wake up.

Heres a breakdown, along with Fitbits explanation, of what each stage means:

Awake: When it comes to being awake during the night, many of us think that waking up at all is bad news. Turns out, waking up during the night is a normal part of sleep. In fact, waking up anywhere in the ballpark of 10-30 times in a single evening is normal.

So, if youre one of those people who roll over a few times during the night or get up to pee once or twice, youre just like everyone else. Theres nothing to be super worried about.

Light Sleep: Light sleep occurs when your body starts to slow down at night, its that moment when you start to fall asleep, but you could be easily woken. The best example is probably those moments when youre commuting and fall asleep on the train or in the passenger seat of your co-worker’s car. When youre in light sleep, you may be aware of what is going on around you, and someone can wake you up easily but youre still asleep.

During this sleep stage, your heart rate decreases slightly from what it is when youre awake. Just because you can be woken easily doesnt mean this isnt a useful stage light sleep helps a ton with mental and physical recovery, so you can feel better after an hour of light sleep than you did before you started to snooze.

    Guided Programs Workouts And Mindfulness

Making lifestyle changes isnt easy and while your Fitbit device is a fantastic tool, its just that. It cant do the hard work for you.

And while a Fitbit Premium cant burn the calories for you, or make you get to bed on time, it can at least let you know how to achieve your goals.

Premium offers Guided Programs, which is like having a lifestyle coach on your wrist. There are Guided Programs for getting more sleep, eating healthily, moving more and getting exercise.

Unlike just singular workouts, a Guided Program will last 1 3 weeks. Each program is more than just a set of targets and also included education, reading and then daily strategies.

For programs like Kick Your Sugar Habit you tick off each day as its accomplished, and the next day youll get a different set of reading and inspiration. For workout or activity-based Programs, you have to complete three Dynamic Workouts, or whatever the plan entails, to tick it off.

While Fitbit is a great tool for your physical wellbeing, its not just about steps, workouts and heart health. Fitbit Premium has guided mindfulness sessions, with over 150 to choose from.

There are guided breathing routines, bedtime stories, anti-anxiety meditations and more, including content from Aura and Ten percent Happier. If you’re having trouble sleeping, there are guided sessions for that too.

How do you set up the sleep tracking? I have had my Fitbit for about 5 days now. I see theres 2 ways to set up sleep. One way is hitto begin log,by setting time you go to bed or hitting begin sleep now. Which one of the 2 is the better way? The begin sleep now shows your sleep score the other way does not. Which one shows rem sleep ? Also should I keep it on normal or sensitive sleep?

          Fitbit Community Council Learn more

To track sleep, do nothing. Fitbit figures it out on its own without you doing anything.

The normal and sensitive settings were only for trackers without heart rate monitoring that had to guess sleep by motion. It has no effect with the Inspire2.

Do not use “begin sleep now”. Again that was just for trackers with heart rate monitoring.

As for setting a bed time, that’s just to help you set your routine. I think it will give you a notice at some time before that to remind you it is time to wind down and start getting ready for bed. But it has no effect on actual sleep tracking.

How To Make Fitbit Track Sleeping Work

          Surge/Charge HR/Force and Charge

Surge helps track sleep automatically. All you need to do is to wear your device to bed. You will be able to view your stats when the tracker syncs with your account.

After getting into bed, tap you Flex for about 2 seconds. The tracker will vibrate and display 2 slowly dimming lights as an indicator for sleep mode. Goal progress is not displayed while the device is in this mode.

After you wake up, tap your Flex rapidly for about 2 seconds. The device will exit sleep mode. When you do this, the Flex will flash and vibrate 3 times and then display a spinning light pattern. You can view your stats after Flex has synced with your Fitbit account.

To activate sleep tracking, hold the button on the tracker for several seconds. You will notice the stopwatch begin to count or the icons start to blink. This is an indication that the device is in sleep mode. After you wake up, hold the trackers button for about 2 seconds to exit sleep mode.

Poor sleep hygiene can be detrimental to your physical and mental health. Sleep interruptions arent only limited to disorders like sleep apnea and insomnia, which are known for causing restlessness at bedtime. Factors like temperature fluctuations, nightmares, light, and noise might prevent you from getting restful sleep.

It might help to use a sleep tracker at night to identify any culprits that affect your overall sleep quality. Its important to note that sleep trackers cannot replace medical treatment or diagnose sleep disorders. However, your doctor might find the data collected by the sleep tracker useful in recommending the right recovery plan to get your physical and mental wellbeing back on track.

Fitbit Inspire 2 Review: Alternatives To Consider

There’s no shortage of the best fitness trackers to choose from out there which is why we’re fairly convinced that the Fitbit Inspire 2 is best as a sleep tracker instead. That’s thanks to how comfy it is but there are alternatives.

The Fitbit Charge 4 is more expensive but offers GPS and the same sleep tracking tools you’ll see on the Fitbit Inspire 2. It’s a similar weight too so you won’t have to worry about any disruption while snoozing.

Alternatively, a budget offering like the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 can be a good option if you want to spend even less but it’s far from as comfortable as the Fitbit Inspire 2. Still, it’s also about a quarter of the price at only about £20. It still has a heart rate tracker too so it’s reasonably accurate while you sleep.

There’s also the option of the potential overkill purchase the Apple Watch Series 6. Far more expensive than anything else mentioned here, it’s worth it if you’ll use it. With a brighter always-on display than previous Apple Watches, it looks gorgeous. It also has excellent app support so you can try a lot of different health and fitness options. An array of health sensors including a blood oxygen monitor and ECG facility further provides some peace of mind. Expect to pay for the privilege though.
