How to clean your sleep tracker will depend on its materials and construction, so it is important to follow the manufacturers care instructions. Some sleep trackers have removable covers that can be washed, while others can simply be wiped down with a damp cloth or cleaned carefully with rubbing alcohol. Get Better Battery Life

The Gear Fit 2 can manage to muster up to three days of battery with the power saving mode enabled, but in general will get you through a couple of days of tracking before you’re clipping back into its charging cradle.

There are some easy ways to help it push a little closer to those three days. The first thing to do is to turn off automatic data syncing to S Health. That’s a big drain on battery. You can do that by going to the S Health app, heading to Settings and then Account to toggle off automatic syncing.

You can also turn off the always-on watch mode, decrease the brightness from the dropdown menu and limit the notifications you want to be alerted about. This can be adjusted in the Notifications menu in the Gear app.

How to find Sleep as Android in Samsung Gear store (Gear S2, S3, Sport)

I really like the Samsung Fit2 Pro. Yes, its not as robust a smart thing as some other trackers out there, but at its current price of $170, its a steal. The screen is out-of-this-world good, and the tracking is fantastic for those whod rather be reinforced with kind messages and automatic number crunching than to-the-millimeter perfection.

At the same time, the notification system on the Fit2 Pro is better than some smartwatches , and even most of the negatives are nitpicks.

The Fit2 Pro goes up against the Fitbit Blaze, Garmin Vivosport, TomTom Spark 3 Cardio and a Series 1 Apple Watch, and it largely comes out ahead against all of them. If youre looking for more accurate fitness tracking or better sleep metrics, youre better off with a Garmin or a Fitbit, but nothing touches Samsung for an all-around experience.

    And, wow, that screen.

    How To Stay Hydrated

Proper water consumption is essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Not drinking enough water can lower your physical and mental performance, and lead to dehydration. Likewise, too much caffeine can cause a variety of health issues, from hypertension and dizziness to anxiety and agitation. As such, monitoring your daily intake of both water and caffeine is of the upmost importance and S Health makes the process considerably more convenient.

  • Turn the bezel until you reach the screen with the water glass or coffee mug icons.
  • Tap the plus sign to track the number of glasses of water or cups of caffeinated beverages you consume.
  • To review your water and caffeine intake, tap and hold down the icon. Turn the bezel to the left to review intake history.
  • How To Switch Out Widgets

Widgets pop up when you scroll left to right from the home screen of Gear Fit2. Sometimes the order isnt really optimized for your needs but its pretty easy to customize.

Scroll left to the widgets then long press the screen. The haptics will kick in and you can start picking which ones you dont want by tapping the minus symbol, adding by choosing Add at the end and drag current widgets to move them. The last one can be kind of hard to do on the small vertical screen, but weve found that holding and moving the widget up and around the other is best.

    How To Step To It

Walking may be the easiest way to get exercise into ones daily routine. Just about anyone can do it. You dont need lessons or expensive equipment. Though one complementary tool that is particularly useful, not to mention motivational, is a pedometer. Studies have shown that the combination of this step-counting tool and a personal target step goal is particularly effective.

  • In the S Health app, turn the bezel to the Settings menu and tap Settings.
  • Rotate the bezel to the right and tap Step target.
  • Rotate the bezel to set your daily step target.
  • Touch SET.
  • Press the Back button twice, then turn the bezel left to the Steps menu. It will display the number of steps youve walked for the day out of your daily target.
  • Tap the number and turn the bezel left to review your steps history.
  • What Is A Sleep Tracker

Samsung Gear Fit2 : Shootout: Tracking down the best ...

A sleep tracker is a device that monitors one or more aspects that reflect your sleep patterns, habits, stages, quality, and/or duration. This measurement is indirect, relying on more easily detectable physical signals of sleep, rather than basing it on brain activity and eye movement as they do in some formal medical tests.

Most sleep trackers look at heart rate and respiration rate, which are closely linked to sleep stages. Additionally, tracking respiration can help show potential breathing issues, like snoring and sleep apnea. Many trackers also use a small built-in movement-detecting device called an accelerometer to assess how much you move while sleeping, thereby analyzing sleep time and quality.

Some sleep trackers may use a microphone to pick up snoring, movement noise, and ambient noise to judge how well youre sleeping. Others contain a thermometer to provide data on how room temperature may affect your sleep.

Wearable and non-wearable sleep trackers are available. While theyre usually similar in what sort of data they collect, they may use different methods to do so. Since a wearable device touches the body, it can monitor heart rate, respiration, and movement more directly. Many non-wearable devices rest on or under the mattress and monitor vibrations to gather data. As long as theyre well-calibrated, either device should capture valuable information.

Send Quick Replies On Gear Fit2

You can read all the messages you get on the Fit2 but you can’t actually type anything back. However, there’s a list of pre-set messages Samsung provides – and you can add your own to the list as well.

To do so, you’ll need your Android phone again. Open up ‘Settings’ and then ‘Quick Messages.’ From here, you can add or delete from two lists: quick responses and call-reject messages. Press edit or the plus symbol for your own list of customized messages.

Odd Juggling Act Between This And Samsung Health

The Galaxy Fit app is pretty solid, other than the occasional bad update . In theory, this app controls the device, and Samsung Health tracks your fitness data. In practice, you jump back and forth between the two to manage your settings. Also, one can lost the connection, and the other doesnt, so I question how good the communication is between the two apps. Its easy enough to quit one and restart it, but it is annoying as crap when Im sitting in a meeting and my Fit notifications start going off constantly. This is almost always a sign that the Fit app crashed, but the Health app is fine, and my phone is dumping every notification it can to my phone . Im scrambling to open my phone and force Fit to quit and restart, to get it to stop before my arm vibrates off

Why Does My Watch Battery Die So Quickly

If your battery is running out faster than it should, its possible that theres something wrong with how your watch and phone are paired. You can resolve a lot of issues by un-pairing your watch and then re-pairing it as a new watch, which should wipe out any of the corruption that caused the battery glitch.

    What About The Sleep Score

Its worth keeping in mind that the sleep score doesnt simply reflect how much you sleep. The overall quality of your sleep is just as important as the length.

For example, 8 hours of sleep with very little deep sleep and REM sleep may be lower than 7 hours with sufficient deep sleep and REM sleep scores.

Can You Sleep With A Galaxy Watch

Contrary to certain widespread rumors, there is no scientific evidence to claim that wireless devices are bad for our health. So, as long as the feeling of having a watch on your wrist doesnt prevent you from sleeping, there is nothing wrong with sleeping with a Galaxy Watch.

If you want to take advantage of sleep tracking, you need to be wearing the watch while sleeping.

Understanding Sleep Tracking: How Does The Galaxy Watch Track Sleep

Testing the Fitbit Alta HR vs. Samsung Gear Fit2 ...

Smartwatches can tell how well you are sleeping by using a variety of different tools. Some of the most popular ones are:

    • Movement and positioning: This is pretty self-explanatory. Vast movements indicate that you are awake while standing still after a certain amount of time means that you are going through light sleep
    • Sound: Things like snoring and outside noises may be decremental to your sleep quality. Sleep trackers may use such info to calculate your final sleep score
    • Heart rate: Our heart rate changes when we sleep and can also change depending on sleep quality. A sudden spike in heart rate, for example, may indicate that you just entered the REM stage or that maybe you are having a nightmare
    • AI: The AI of the program can finally process all of the data that it gathers from your sleeping habits and determine how well you sleep in detail

Not to mention that the watch can also use information such as your daily sleeping time and waking up to determine further whether you are sleeping well or not.

Its worth noting that all the above methods of sleep tracking are general and not exclusive to Galaxy Watches.

How To Use Sleep As Android With Galaxy Watch

Your Samsung Galaxy Watch comes with a reasonably good sleep tracking. However, whenever I spend some time on my bed watching movies or reading Kindle, the native sleep tracker is not able to differentiate these activities from actual sleeping. And the fact that you cant edit your sleep time, just make it even worse.

    Read: Best Galaxy Watch Apps

Thankfully, you can use third-party sleep tracking apps like the popular Sleep as Android with your Galaxy Watch. This not only can differentiate between lying lethargically in bed to actual sleeping but also give you an in-depth analysis of your sleep pattern, REM cycle, and smart alarm, etc. The only caveat is, unlike the native sleep tracking, its not automatic, which means, every time you go to bed youll have to manually turn on the sleep tracking.

To get started, you need to install Sleep as Android app on your watch as well as your smartphone.

Lets start with the Galaxy Watch first. On your Galaxy watch, go to Galaxy App store > Apps > Health and Fitness and download Sleep as Android app. Alternatively, you can click on this link to directly download it on your Samsung phone.

Once done, now you need to download the Sleep as Android app on your Android smartphone from the Google Play store. Its free and contains minimal banner ads.
