Is There A Better Alternative
Yes, the fitness band market is huge so there are many great alternatives. While I think the Galaxy Fit 2 is one of the better models available, it does have some strong competition. If a Fitbit appeals more, due to the recognizable brand name and established platform, the Inspire 2 is the closest model to the Galaxy Fit 2, but it will cost you $100, plus Fitbit has a monthly subscription charge to unlock some of its more advanced features. If you want a Fitbit with GPS, we recommend the Fitbit Charge 4.
If you live outside the U.S., or are happy to import, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is excellent value at around 40 British pounds, as is the Honor Band 5 which can be found for even less. If you dont need specific fitness tracking features like GPS and arent a dedicated athlete, why spend more than you have to on a simple fitness band?
If you dont mind spending more, and want something that looks less like a regular fitness band, there are also a couple of smartwatch-like alternatives. The Amazfit GTR 2 costs $179, looks great, and has plenty of fitness tracking features to use, while the Honor Watch ES costs 89 British pounds, or about $120, and occupies the middle ground between smartwatch and fitness band.
Better Visibility To Help Keep You Moving
Galaxy Fit2 helps you keep your rhythm and your style. The beautiful 3D glass accentuates the sleek design, and with its wide 1.1-inch full color AMOLED display, just a quick glance gives you the info you need.
*Display size is 1.1, measured diagonally as a full rectangle without accounting for the rounded corners. Actual viewable area is less due to the rounded corners.
How To Record Sleep Duration In Manual Mode
On your Gear Fit Home screen, you have to Scroll the screen to the left or right which will take you to the Sleep App. In the Sleep App, you can see 3 options Start with a green color half moon on the left and Sleep-check sleep data in the middle and Back button on the right side.
After you wake up you can find the duration time of your sleep and now click on the same button where it is written Stop now to stop recording your Sleep timings.

Transfer Music To The Gear Fit2
If you’d prefer to go on a run and leave your handset behind, luckily you can pre-load some tunes on the Gear Fit2. Using the Gear app, select ‘Send music to Gear.’ You can pick specific songs or turn on auto-sync to pile on tracks from certain playlists.
There needs to be music already on your phone – you can’t transfer from a computer just yet.
How Does Your Fitness Tracker Know When You’re Asleep
Sleep tracking is a big part of what we do at Exist. We currently sync sleep data from Fitbit, Jawbone UP, Misfit, Nokia Health, Apple Health, and Google Fit.
We use that sleep data to look for trends and insights in your behaviour, by adding to it data from your Twitter, Facebook, Swarm, and Instagram accounts, productivity data from RescueTime, GitHub, Gmail, your calender, and Todoist, the music you listen to from last.fm, plus your weight, weather, exercise, nutrition, and location data.
I dived into some research to work out what’s going on when you set your Jawbone UP or Fitbit to sleep mode. Both devices use accelerometers to track your movements, including the speed and direction of your motion. This is how they track your activity during the day, and how they tell when you’re asleep.
When you set your Fitbit or Jawbone UP device to “sleep mode,” it monitors your movements. When you sync your device the next morning, the software translates those movements into sleep data. If you’ve ever edited your sleep times the next morning, you’ll have seen a glimpse into how this worksdata about your movement during “awake” time gets re-analysed when you tell the software you were actually asleep then, and you then see it charted as sleep data.
This method of using a device to track movements in order to measure sleep is called actigraphy.

Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro Review: The Best Fitness Tracker For Most People
It’s taken a few years, but Samsung’s wearable strategy has settled as has much of the industry on fitness as its primary selling point. This year’s crop of wrist-worn products from the Korean giant include the excellent Gear Sport, along with the Gear Fit2 Pro, both with the intention of making it easy to track steps and workouts while receiving notifications.
In other words, the value proposition hasn’t changed dramatically from the original Gears of a few years ago, but the 2017 refreshes put an emphasis on durability, longevity, and comfort.

App Integration: Strava And Others On The Way
Before wrapping up, it should be noted that all is not lost on the application front, even if the device is limited. Samsung has opened up the Gear Fit to some limited 3rd party development. Right now, that happens to include Strava and RunKeeper.
In the case of Strava, youll use the main Strava Android app and as long as you have the Gear Fit paired with the phone via Bluetooth the Strava App will automatically leverage the display for a handful of screens of data.
It should be noted that heart rate data is not accessible to Strava today with the Gear Fit . Hopefully Samsung will change that. Nonetheless, Strava will display heart rate data from a paired heart rate strap if you happen to have it. And, based on what I showed above in the optical HR sensor section thats probably for the best anyway.
The app supports the ability to display real-time segment information for your favorite segments that you stumbled into on your route, or for segments that are deemed important by Strava. By default itll show you racing against your previous PR for that segment, unless youve never raced that segment in which case itll race against the KOM record holder.
Ill be playing more with the app in the coming weeks on the Gear2, as well as poking at it a bit more on the Gear Fit. Its cool though to see Strava throwing some resources at projects like these and taking a chance on new hardware and devices.
What Is The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro
The Gear Fit 2 Pro is Samsungs latest flagship fitness tracker, taking over from the older Gear Fit 2. It aims to take on super-swish fitness-focused smartwatches such as the Apple Watch 3, as well as more dedicated trackers, by offering cutting-edge hardware coupled with Samsungs Tizen software.
The Gear Fit 2s hardware is generally top-notch and easily matches, if not beats, the Apple Watch 3 when it comes to fitness. But there are issues with its battery life and its ridonculous asking price makes it an expensive luxury.

Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro: Features
Like the Fit2, the Pro also has the Galaxy App store to download apps. This includes the entire Under Armour suite, including MapMyRun and Endomondo. This, alongside running on Samsung’s Tizen, makes the Fit2 Pro feel a little more smartwatch than fitness tracker but just a little. It’s more Fitbit Ionic than Apple Watch or Android Wear, but it’s still a welcome treat that gives it a leg up on the competition.

There’s also now Spotify offline playback, so if you have a Spotify account you can sync over albums and playlists and listen to music on your run . This is supposed to be preinstalled, but it isn’t really as you have to install the Spotify app in Galaxy Apps on your phone. There’s 4GB of space for you to store your music and you can also transfer your music over with Gear Music Manager. This works a little differently depending on your phone. If you’ve got an Android phone, you simply use the app to transfer over music. If you have an iPhone, however, you have to use a web browser on your computer.

How does Trade-in work –
Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro: Design
The Fit2 already had a fairly slick design, and the Fit2 Pro ain’t fixing what ain’t broken. There are fewer colour options, with just black or black and red rather than the three alternatives with the Fit Pro. The heart of the experience is still that beautiful 1.5-inch, 216 x 432 Super AMOLED display. It’s bright and filled with colour as far as fitness trackers go, you won’t find better.
However, it’s variable when standing up to sunlight. For instance, taking it for a run in the afternoon was absolutely fine, with all the information perfectly digestible, but when I was out early in the morning it was a lot more difficult to see what the screen was showing me.
Samsung Gear Fit2 rivals
The solution here is outdoor mode, which will boost the brightness up to 11 , which lasts for five minutes before reverting back, so it doesn’t suck too much battery power.
You’ll be swiping that screen side-to-side a lot to get through the various modes. The main home screen can be customized with all sorts of faces, and you can download more via Galaxy Apps. Our favourite was actually the default, which cleanly gives you a look at all the big metrics of the day, from heart rate to steps to calories.
