You can see more data on the Apple Health iOS app. When you open it up and head for the Sleep section, you can also see the average time spent in bed and time spent asleep over a month. You can also see a series of highlights that range from average sleep over seven days as well as heart rate during sleep.;

The importance of seeing that heart rate information during this time is that it can give you a sense of how your body recovers from the day and can also be a sign of whether youre in a good state of health. Heart rate during sleep can vary from 40-100bpm, and can be influenced by a range of things like exercise or drinking.

How Can I Change My Sleep Goal

If you’ve realized you under or overestimated what sleep you need, it makes sense to adjust your sleep goal. Here’s where to look.

1. On your iPhone, open the Health app and tap Sleep.

2. Tap Full Schedule & Options.

3. Tap Sleep Goal and adjust it to the length of time you now need.

You can also change your schedule so that your Apple Watch automatically adjusts depending on the day of the week. Want to have a lie-in on a Saturday? Tweak the times for Saturday so you can sleep longer than on a Monday morning.;

How To Track Sleep On Apple Watch And Change Settings

Steps to set up Sleep on Apple Watch:

Open the Sleep app on the Apple watch or the Health app on iPhone and on-screen;instructions will be shown on setting up.;To change or turn off the next wake-up alarm: Open the Sleep app, tap on current bedtime, and either click on turn off the alarm or set a new time. This is only applicable to the immediate next wake up alarm, after which it resumes back to the normal schedule. To add or change a sleep schedule: Open the Sleep app, tap on Full Schedule, and select between Change a sleep schedule, Add a sleep schedule, Change your sleep goal, and Change Wind Down time. After this, set the days for your schedule, adjust wake up time and bedtime, set alarm options and/or remove or cancel a sleep schedule. How to track sleep on Apple watch: Open the Sleep app on the Apple watch and scroll down to the amount of sleep from the previous night and the sleep average trend over the last 14 days. To change sleep options, open Settings on the Apple watch device, tap Sleep and choose between the following options: Sleep Mode, Showtime, Sleep Tracking, Charging reminders, and Wake to haptic taps. – In the latest watchOS 7 update Apple enables you to track sleep using the Apple Watch. watchOS 7 works with Apple Watch Series 3, 4, 5 and the new Apple Watch Series 6 we’re expecting. It isn’t compatible with Series 1 or 2.;

Sleep tracking has been a much-wanted feature for the Apple Watch and has been available previously in third-party apps.

Now though, there is a Sleep app on the watch and it uses motion to detect your sleep time. You obviously need to be wearing your Apple Watch to track your sleep, so you’ll need to change your charging behaviour and juice up in the day. If you don’t, you’ll end up with no charge at 10am the next morning.;

The good thing about Apple Watch sleep tracking is that it is set-and-forget, so your sleep will be tracked without you having to do anything. But it’s fully configurable as you’ll see.;

Sleep Cycle has the unique feature of a built-in alarm with a “Wake up phase,” that automatically wakes you up at the optimal time, based on your sleep pattern. Set the time you need to wake up by, and the app will wake you up to 30 minutes before when you’re in your lightest phase of sleep. You can adjust that time frame in the app if you want a longer window of time before you’re woken up.

If you buy the paid version , you’ll unlock premium features, like a sleep aid to provide you with soothing sounds, weather alerts when you wake up, and heart rate monitoring.

Although the features may be better than the other apps, you won’t receive a data analysis of your sleep cycle.

Setting Up The Jawbone Up2

Setting up the Jawbone UP2 is supposed to be a simple process:

  • Attach the tracker to the charger to activate it
  • Use the iOS app to pair;the tracker to your iPhone
  • I plugged in my Jawbone UP2 and the LEDs lit up as described in the sparse documentation that comes with the device. I didnt immediately pair;the UP2 with my iPhone, but instead, I let it charge for;an hour.

    Pairing;the tracker didnt work as the app couldnt find a;nearby UP device. The following troubleshooting steps didnt resolve the problem either:

    • Disable and re-enable Bluetooth on my iPhone
    • Restart iPhone
    • Delete and re-install Jawbone UP app
    • Try to link tracker to my wifes iPhone
    • Attempt soft-reset of tracker

    It turned out, my Jawbone UP2 froze and couldnt even be reset using the method described in the;support article.;After I had spent an hour trying to get the Jawbone UP2 to work, I gave up. I was annoyed;and wanted to return the band to;Amazon.

    The next morning I decided to give it another shot, and to my surprise, the soft reset worked, and I could pair;the tracker to my iPhone.

    Most fitness trackers, such as those from Fitbit, Garmin, and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, give you highly detailed data about the amount of time youre in REM sleep, light sleep, or are tossing around in bed. I, for one, dont care what stage of sleep Im in, or how much deep sleep I getI just want to know if Ive slept wellbut I respect not everyone feels that way.

    The Galaxy Watch 3, and other fitness trackers Ive tested, offer more actionable insight, which someone with consistent sleep troubles might need. For me, going to bed at the same time every night has been enough of an adjustment to regulate my hours of rest. For others, something like Fitbit Premium, which offers personalized guidance on how they can sleep better and have more energy, might be a better choice.

    Press “Start Sleeping” and then “Stop Sleeping” on your Apple Watch or in the iPhone app.

    You won’t get much data from this app, just one bar showing you how deep your sleep was. However, it’s totally free and a great place to start your sleep-tracking routine.

    How Can You Make Sure Your Apple Watch Is Tracking Sleep

    Apples Sleep app also allows you to track sleep from your iPhone, which is based around the bedtime schedule that you will have to create when you set up the Sleep app. This is synchronous: whether you set it up on the Apple Watch or iPhone first, it should automatically sync with the other device and activate Sleep during your scheduled bedtime.

    To make sure your Apple Watch is recording sleep, look for the Sleep app on your home screen . From there you can enable tracking sleep with the Apple Watch that will forward that data to the iOS Apple Health app. Its here where you can also enable charging reminders and automatically turn on the Do Not Disturb mode at night though if you want to switch it on manually, look for the new Bedtime button on your control center.

    What Apple Watch Devices Work With Sleep Tracking

    WatchOS 7 and the Sleep app associated with it are only compatible with particular Apple Watches. These include the Apple Watch Series 3, Apple Watch Series 4, Apple Watch Series 5, Apple Watch Series 6, and Apple Watch SE.

    If you own an original Apple Watch or Series 1 or 2 model, you can’t use the Sleep app. You’ll also need an iPhone that runs iOS 14 which means anything newer than an iPhone 6s.

    Edit Your Sleep Schedule

    Tap Open Sleep Options in Health to open the Health app, where you can turn on the switch for Sleep Schedule. Tap the Edit link under Full Schedule and set your usual times for going to sleep and waking up. You can also set different times for different days, such as one schedule for weekdays and another for weekends.

    Under Additional Details, tap the entry for Sleep Goal and set the number of hours and minutes that you hope to sleep. Tap the entry for Wind Down to select the amount of time for winding down before bed. Tap the entry for Wind Down Shortcuts to set up any shortcuts youd like to apply during Wind Down. Finally, tap the entry for Options to confirm the options you set in the Sleep app and to set up a few more.
