Sleep Tracking Issues On Galaxy Watch

Set Up Automatic Native Sleep Tracking For the Gear S3, Gear S2 and Gear Fit 2

Bother!Dang, but at least it tracked your sleep and gave you the restless/light/motionless breakdown right? If so, that might just be dirt on the heart rate sensor or something.I haven’t experienced this issue since my last post. I wonder if my watch was loose due to the magnetic watch band I was wearing. Still, it’s the same band from my Gear S3 and I never had this problem there. Perhaps the Galaxy Watch is more sensitive and checks that you are actually wearing the watch all night?10-16-2018 03:38 PM
  • I have the 46mm and so far everything seems to be fine. However, I just got it last week.10-18-2018 10:45 AM
  • tabingamJust got my Galaxy Watch 42mm for Christmas. Have worn it for 2 nights now. Believable REM and Light Sleep numbers, but 0 Deep Sleep, which was concerning me, but now I feel better, because apparently its says that for everyone. Was searching the web for something that would tell me what ‘normal’ sleep numbers should look like, when I came across this post. I have my Heart Rate sensor on Frequent and it seems to be fine. I read somewhere else that a recent update on the watch made it no longer necessary to have it set to Constant.12-27-2018 09:22 PM
  • How To Switch Out Widgets

Widgets pop up when you scroll left to right from the home screen of Gear Fit2. Sometimes the order isn’t really optimized for your needs – but it’s pretty easy to customize.

Scroll left to the widgets then long press the screen. The haptics will kick in and you can start picking which ones you don’t want by tapping the minus symbol, adding by choosing ‘Add’ at the end and drag current widgets to move them. The last one can be kind of hard to do on the small vertical screen, but we’ve found that holding and moving the widget up and around the other is best.

Can I Sleep With My Galaxy Watch

Setup for sleep tracking using Samsung Health app First things first, you need to pair the Samsung Galaxy Watch with a smartphone. While you can use sleep tracking independently, a smartphone keeps the results over days, weeks, or even months of sleep tracking. And thats a good way of motivating yourself to do better.

How To Use Sleep Tracking On Your Samsung Galaxy Watch

Are you interested in learning how to use sleep tracking on your Samsung Galaxy Watch? Its a neat feature to analyze the overall quality of your sleep, sleep duration, and other sleeping habits.

And while that doesnt sound like much, do not forget that sleeping is one of the most important functions of the human body.

Bad sleeping habits are enough to ruin an otherwise very healthy person. So, without any further ado, let us get right into the guide!

    Messaging Communication And Notifications

Samsung Gear Fit2 : Shootout: Tracking down the best ...

When a notification comes through to your phone the Gear S2 will buzz but not display the notification until you raise the watch to look at it. This is a brilliant default setting because it gives more privacy than Android Wear watches allow, for instance, as those will just light up whenever a notification appears regardless of how youre holding it. This can be turned off but I found it to be refreshing and a welcome way to keep my information private so its literally not worn on my wrist for all to see. Messages that come through all have a prominent reply button on the bottom of the screen for quick replies instead of having to swipe over and click a button. Once you click youre presented with four ways to communicate: voice, emoticons, keyboard and quick responses.

    Google Fit On Apple Watch

If you own an Apple Watch, Google Fit does work with the smartwatch, but it’s a very different experience to the one you get when pairing a Wear OS watch to Google Fit on an Android phone. There’s no dedicated app that lives on your app screen on your Watch so you don’t get those guided breathing features we mentioned above for instance.

What you do get is the ability for any workout or activity tracking data recorded by your Apple Watch to be collected in the Google Fit app on your iPhone. So it effectively acts as alternative hub for your data if you don’t want to use Apple Health. Hopefully Google will change that over time and bring a dedicated app to the Watch as well.

Gear S2 Gets Photo Watch Faces Sleep Tracking And More

Smartwatches may have gotten off to a slow start, but they seem to be gaining popularity in recent months. And with so many options to choose from and a plethora of customization options, everyone can find one that suits their needs and style. While smartwatches may not yet have reached their full potential, the Samsung Gear S2 stands out as one of the most feature-packed wearables on the market. The Gear S2 does most of the same things youll find on competing smartwatches. But it also does things many of them dont, for example, it allows the user to place calls directly on the watch, and will store up to 300 songs for playback without the need for the accompanying smartphone. And with its next update, it will bring even more to the table.

Samsungs latest operating system update for the Gear S2 is 61.1 MB in size. The firmware version is R732XXU2DPFB, or R732XXU2DPFB if you have a Gear S2 Sport. Among the new features is the ability to set a photo as the background for your watch face. It will also make recommendations for watch faces, and users can install them directly from the watch without the need to use a smartphone. An automatic sleep monitor will be added to the Gear S2 to help you track your sleeping patterns, as well as a social networking sharing feature. An upgrade to S-Voice will also expand the watchs voice command capabilities to include starting a timer and using messaging apps. Lastly, theyve also added a new contacts app, with an accompanying widget.

    • In Automatic Mode, you need to make sure that you are wearing the device on your wrist all through your sleep and not place it on the table.

Turn On Blood Oxygen Level Monitoring During Sleep

Depending on your watch model, it can measure your blood oxygen levels during your sleep. This feature works best when you wear your watch an inch or so above the wrist bone. You want the watchs sensors to fit snugly against your skin.

  • Set up blood oxygen tracking on your watch or phone.
  • On your watch, open the Samsung Health app > Settings > Measurement > Blood oxygen during sleep > On.
  • On your phone, go to Samsung Health > Sleep > More options > Blood oxygen during sleep > On.
  • Use And Manage Trackers In Samsung Health

Samsung Health has everything you need to stay fit and active. It not only tracks exercise, it can also track your heart rate, stress levels, sleep, water intake, and more. With activity trackers, taking care of your health just became easier.

Note: Available screens may vary by wireless service provider or software version. Samsung Health is intended for fitness and informational purposes only and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease.

    Samsung Gear S2 Features

  • Design
  • Samsung Gear S2 might not have the best design you would expect from a smartwatch, but certainly, it measures up well in various criteria you might want to use in rating this device. First, it has a 1.2-inch screen size which is a lot better than its predecessor, Gear S which has a lot bigger screen that makes it heavier and bulky on the wrist. The display is great, a super AMOLED 16M and a resolution of 360*360 pixel.

The body casing is built to last with a stainless material. The strap features a silicon material resistant to sweat and a width of 20mm.

It weighs only 47 grams a drastic reduction when compared to Gear S which weighs 67 grams. It feels light and will be suitable for the ladies.

You can choose from a list of watch faces to customize it to your style.

  • Battery
  • Samsung Gear S2 has a moderate li-ion battery with a capacity of 250mAh. On standby, it can last up to 48 hours and while on mixed average usage, it stays up for about 24 hours which is poor, meaning you will need to charge up the battery daily. In the box, it comes with a wireless-based charger.

  • Activity/Fitness tracking
  • Samsung Gear S comes preinstalled with S Health and Nike+ that can track different activities such as your sleep, it also tracks your heart rate and analyses the general health of your heart. It also analyses calories burnt, steps climbed and the distance you covered.

  • Notifications & Application
  • Notifications appear chronologically as they appear.

    Turning On Sleep Tracking

Testing the Fitbit Alta HR vs. Samsung Gear Fit2 ...

While it might not make it obvious, the Gear Fit2 does actually monitor sleep automatically. But you need to make sure everything is set up correctly in the S Health app to make it happen. If you have an iPhone, you might find it difficult to do, but it works perfectly fine in the Android app. Launch the app and go to the More section and select Manage items.

Here youll be able to toggle on sleep tracking. Youll also need to register your device to create the connection between the phone and Gear Fit2. Now you can nod off, and when you sync the data itll be displayed in S Health detailing aspects about your sleep.

    Samsung Galaxy Watch Review

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is something of a cult hero in the smartwatch world adored by vast numbers of users, it blends powerful specs with a classic design.

Samsungs offering its watch in two sizes 42mm and 46mm with the hope it can appeal to those who love nothing better than having their smartwatch on show, as well as those who prefer something that lives a bit more discreetly.

Incoming: Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 could have August launch

The emphasis once again is on improved health and fitness skills while retaining Samsungs most impressive features. Were talking about that rotating bezel, battery life that goes beyond what most of the competition can offer.

It will inevitably get compared to the Apple Watch Series 4, the Fitbit Versa and an army of Wear OS watches. But is it enough of an upgrade to justify spending $329.99 or $349.99 on one?

How Do Galaxy Smartwatches Track Sleep

Galaxy Watch Active2 and Watch3 both have the ability to track your sleep when you wear your watch to bed. It can track the different sleep stages, including REM sleep, and provide insight in your sleep quality on a nightly basis.

It gives you a sleep score, based on the duration of your sleep, in addition to motion and heart rate data it measures while you’re in bed. To get started tracking your sleeping patterns, go to your apps tray and open Samsung Health. Tap on Sleep and there you can see all your sleep tracking information. When you’re ready for bed, tap Start to begin the tracking to see if you’re getting a restful night’s sleep.

    What About The Sleep Score

Its worth keeping in mind that the sleep score doesnt simply reflect how much you sleep. The overall quality of your sleep is just as important as the length.

For example, 8 hours of sleep with very little deep sleep and REM sleep may be lower than 7 hours with sufficient deep sleep and REM sleep scores.

Samsung Gear S2 – Is it a fitness tracker too?
    • 0over 3 years agoIf Garmin would provide sleep stages like the competition that I currently use…. I would switch back to Garmin and pick up the VA3 in a heartbeatI had the the Vivosmart HR and enjoyed it except it was too bulky, so I reluctantly switched to another brand.Would love to get the VA3 but I am addicted to my sleep stages and do not want to give those statistics up!

I don’t know why but I can tell that my 3x cheaper Huawei Fit could track my sleep and even random naps with a minute accuracy. My Garmin Forerunner 245 is off even by hours EVERY day. Completely unusable feature. Because of that I am considering switching for Samsung Watch 2 should the reviews be favorable once it comes out.

When I am working well past midnight, on my PC and everyone is asleep, my watch thinks I am in deep sleep . Then it sees light sleep/awake for 3-4 min then goes into some random sleep mode. What a joke for a £650 watch!

    Samsung Gear Sport: Features

The downside of a smaller design is that a few features have taken a hit, including Samsung Pay, which now only works with NFC and not magnetic strip readers. This was a big edge Samsung had over the competition, as it meant you could use Samsung Pay in any store that had a magnetic swipe reader, vastly increasing the support. You can still use it with NFC readers, just like Apple Pay and Android Pay, but its a shame to see Samsung drop MST. Also note that iOS users, while getting largely the same experience as Android phone holders, wont be able to use Samsung Pay.

One edge Samsung hasnt lost though is Spotify offline playback, which is a real lure. Nobody outside of Samsung is offering this, yet its easily one of the most asked-for features of wearables. You can sync music either via the phones Bluetooth connection, which I had a spot of trouble with, or by connecting your watch to your Wi-Fi, which worked more smoothly. Once logged in you can browse all of your playlists and toggle whichever youd like to download. Youll then just need to pair some Bluetooth headphones to listen. Once I was logged in, using the Spotify app and downloading music worked like a charm. Youve got 4GB of built-in storage to stick those playlists on, which is about 500 songs.

How To Add Google Fit App Widget To Your Phone Homescreen

Google offers the ability to let you keep a closer eye on your Move Minutes and Heart Points on your phone by adding support for a Fit widget. From here you can also see additional details on steps, calories burned and distance covered. As Apple doesn’t support widgets on iPhones, this is an Android-only feature we’re afraid.

To add the Google Fit widget do the following:

Step 1: Press down on your phone’s screen and you should see Widget appear among a trio of options.

Step 2: Tap Widget and you’ll be able to scroll through all available widgets where you should now find the new Google Fit one. You have your pick from the full widget or simply having the Move Minute and Heart Point widget.

How To Turn On Snore Detection

    • On your phone, open Settings > Apps > Samsung Health
    • Go to Sleep > More options > Snore detection
    • You can also find this option in your watchs Settings > Measurements > Snore Detection
  • Set it to Always on or toggle it on manually for times when you want to track snoring
  • Choose to record audio and set how long you want those recording saved
  • Once you turn snore detection on, wear your Galaxy 4 watch to bed and place your phone on a flat surface, near your head. Once your watch detects that you are sleeping, your phones microphone picks up and records any snoring sounds.
